Original stage concept
Urania was originally created as music for an artistic stage work prepared especially for the 100th anniversary of the Polish Society of Amateur Astronomers. The work tells the story of the birth of the Muse of Astronomy and her symbolic influence on the development of civilization.
The story begins in darkness and chaos – before there is anyone to see, and before there is anything to be seen. From this chaos, light is born – so intense that the surrounding forms cannot look at it directly. Through memory, movement and the gradual opening of vision, Urania is born: a figure longing for the light, trying to order it, follow it and share its power with others. The work reflects one of the most important tensions in human experience: looking back can teach us only up to a certain point. To go further, someone must dare to look at the stars. But looking only upward, without seeing the path ahead, also has consequences. The true art is to look far enough to discover a new land.
